Italian poker players have a choice of playing limit or no-limit Texas Hold’Em when they sit down at a poker table, whether it is in a casino or in online poker. There is no real difference in the way the game is played because the difference lies in the size of the pot. Limit poker is really challenging intellectually. A spread limit is usually implemented and each round of betting on the flop, turn or river will have both a minimum and maximum limit in place for how much you are allowed to bet.

If you like to bluff, then you won’t do well in limit Texas Hold’Em. Bluffing is rarely used in this poker game. Most of the hands are played directly, which is why it is so important to always make the right decisions. In contrast to limit Texas Hold’Em, one of the strategies Italian and other poker players use in no-limit games is the that of applying pressure at strategic points in the game to win a large pot.

With the small limits used in limit Texas Hold’Em, you won’t win a lot of money. The advantage to playing this type of poker is that you can play for a longer period of time before you lose all your chips and get put out of the game. You really won’t learn any of the essential poker skills by continually playing limit Texas Hold’Em. There is very little aggression in the game and with the low pots, there is also little opportunity to learn to read the players and predict whether or not they think they have a winning hand. Limit poker is more scientific and mathematical in nature, where as learning to become a good no-limit player is an art form in itself.

That is not to say that you don’t need to have knowledge of the rules of Texas Hold’Em in order to play limit games. You still need to have the basic knowledge of how to play the game. Beginners usually start off playing for real money with limit games so that they won’t lose a lot of money until they become comfortable with their game play. The potential for loss is much less in limit poker than it is in no-limit poker.

Once you do have a good grasp of the game, then you can move on to no-limit poker. You can beat any opponent in either forms of the game as long as you employ good poker strategies and gain an understanding of how the other players play the game. Being able to read the other players is perhaps the most important poker strategy that you can have in your repertoire. Once you have this understanding, you will also have the ability to change your game play during the game to meet the changes of your opponents so that you take advantage of their weaknesses. You also have to be aware of your own strengths and weaknesses and know the right time to make a move or when you should fold your hand.

What is Texas Hold’em: Texas hold ‘em (or simply hold ‘em or holdem) is the most popular of the community card poker games. It is the most popular poker variant played in casinos in the western United States, and its no-limit form is used in the main event of the World Series of Poker (abbreviated WSOP), widely recognized as the world championship of the game.

How Texas Hold’em poker came to be is a popular debate topic among history-mongers and poker players. Some believe that the history of Texas Hold’em poker began in China in 900 A.D.

According to findings in history, Texas Hold’em poker had its earliest roots from the “domino card” game that was a popular pastime of Emperor Mu-tsung. The emperor has been reported to have played the game wit his wife on New Year’s Eve, 969 A.D. The date is believed as some as the birth date of the history of Texas Hold’em poker.

But history was changed when archaeologists found fragments of cards that are reminiscent of the cards used in Texas Hold’em poker. These relics from 12th or 13th century Egypt made a great impact on the history of the game. This important discovery on the history of Texas Hold’em poker led them to believe that modern cards used in Texas Hold’em poker originated from the Indian card game, Ganjifa.

A Persian game called “as nas” is also believed to be a precursor of the modern Texas Hold’em poker game, according to history. As Nas is also a bluffing game of five cards. But the deck used in As Nas is composed of 25 cards of 5 suits each, unlike the deck used in Texas Hold’em poker where there are 52 5-suited cards. Even so, many people believe that Texas Hold’em poker could trace back its history to the ancient game of As Nas.

According to history, Persian sailors were said to have taught the game to the Germans during the 16th or 17th century, who called in “Pochen” and passed it on to the French. At this point in history, the game came to be known as “Poque” and employed the modern Texas Hold’em poker technique of bluffing.

The French brought this earlier version of Texas Hold’em poker to their settlements in New Orleans. From there, the history of Texas Hold’em poker traveled up the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. It was this point in time that the history of Texas Hold’em poker began to show consistency. Word of the game spread over the whole of United States through wagon trails, and later on, through rail tracks.

When the Civil War that changed the annals of American history occurred, Texas Hold’em poker experienced another drastic change. It was here that Texas Hold’em poker began to adopt the traditional English version deck of cards. The Texas Hold’em poker deck is composed of 52 cards with 5 suits – diamonds, hearts, clubs, and spades. The “joker”, the Texas Hold’em poker wild card, was also introduced in 1875.

Know your limit and play within it…

Below are some basic Texas Hold’em Rules to follow when you start playing the game.

Texas Hold’em Rule 1 – Dealer Button

In Texas Hold’em rules, a marker – called a dealer button — made of plastic indicates which player is the dealer. After identifying the dealer, players each take their turn playing their hands in a clockwise manner, starting to the dealer’s left. After each hand, the button is also moved clockwise to the next player who will now assume the position of dealer.

Texas Hold’em Rule 2 – Blinds

In basic Texas Hold’em rules, two players sitting to the left of the dealer place bets before the cards are dealt. These bets are called ‘small blind’ and ‘big blind’ and are used as a pot to play for. The amount of the small blind is half of the smallest structured bet. The big blind on the other hand is equal to the smallest structure bet, as specified by the Texas Hold’em rules.

Texas Hold’em Rule 3 – Pocket Cards

According to Texas Hold’em Rule No. 3, each player is given two cards as pocket cards. The pocket cards and the community cards (which will be dealt at a later stage) are what the poker players use in order to make their 5-card poker hand.

Texas Hold’em Rule 4 – First Betting Round

The player to the left of the player of who issued the big blind will make the first bet. The Texas Hold’em Rule No. 5 requires all players to continue betting in a clockwise manner until everyone has an equal stake in the pot.

Texas Hold’em Rule 5 – The Flop After the first betting round, three community cards are dealt. These cards are collectively called a ‘flop’ which players then use to make up their hand. During the next betting round, players have another betting option called a ‘check.’ According to Texas Hold’em Rule No. 5, a check allows a player to pass if no bet has been made.

Texas Hold’em Rule 6 – The Turn

The fourth community card that is dealt after the second betting round is called the ‘turn.’

Texas Hold’em Rule 7 – The River

After the turn is dealt, the third betting round begins and the fifth and final community card is revealed called the ‘river’ or ‘fifth street.’ With that, the final betting round is initiated.

Texas Hold’em Rule 8 – End of the Hand

Upon completion of the final betting round, the Texas Hold’em Rule No. 5 allows the remaining players to show their cards to see who won the pot. The one beside the dealer will be the first to show his card and the rest of the players, in order, can choose to fold or show. The player with the highest 5-card poker hand wins the pot.

Texas Hold-em can be a lot of fun. Please always play with the intention of having fun and leave the heavy gambling to the pros. Many lives have been destroyed because of addiction to gambling.

…and RememberKnow your limit and play within it…

Most professional poker players have their own personal strategy that they swear by, though many of these tactics work wonders for players, some others simply can’t stand their ground. Any good players know that a solid strategy doesn’t necessarily ensure victory in Texas Hold’em poker, because a little luck is most definitely necessary. However, we’d like to bring a few fundamental key strategies into light that you can use to help improve your game

Strategy 1: Keep an eye on the Cards: This Texas Hold’em poker strategy is the oldest and most basic suggestion that can drastically improve your odds for all poker games. Keep an eye on the cards that are dealt and immediately develop a mental strategy dictating your next move, whether it be folding, raising or calling.

Strategy 2: Learn to Bluff: This trick is as old as Texas Hold’em itself. Bluffing is a key strategy and will help to increase your chances for forcing players with fine hands to bow out of the game early. If you master the art of bluffing, you can easily scare off your opponents and win with minimal risk.

Strategy 3: How to Bet: Betting is a vital part of Texas Hold’em poker strategy. If you bet aggressively without proper calculation, you run the risk of losing large sums of money. Betting aggressively at times is just as important as betting gently. It throws off your opponents and helps you take home larger pots. Practice with friends or online for free; learning how to bet is crucial.

Strategy 4: Learning When to Pull Out: Because Hold’em can be such a fast paced and addictive game, that players often forget to pull out. The toughest tactic is to learn when to pull out or call it a hand. You don’t want to ultimately force yourself into a situation where you are unable to pull-out and unable to win, putting more money into the pot at this stage is very unwise.

Do not forget these 4 helpful tips as you make your way to stardom.

Because of Texas holdem’s popularity, most online casinos offer some version of it or another. To be a great player, you must not only rely on luck, you must use your head and play with wit. On your way to the top, be sure to practice on free tables and in low stakes tables so you don’t ruin yourself before you achieve your goals.

This is a game of patience and a lot of practices is required to be a great, don’t expect overnight success.

Best of luck!
